Post Trachea/Heart Surgery - God gave us a miracle!

"I can't believe it!" "Wow, that is amazing!"  I did not expect this at all!"  These are phrases that we keep hearing over and over again. Zachary's surgery was nothing less than a miracle. The medical staff were unsure of how he would do in surgery.  His trachea reconstruction was a complete success. His trachea grew when it wasn't supposed to grow.  And it grew by 50%!  This allowed the surgeon to complete the tracheal reconstruction in only a few hours.

The heart surgeon also did the first surgical procedure and Zachary seems to be handling that well. Zachary has a 72 hour post surgical window that will show his recovery pace. He will have a very rocky couple days. We by no means are not out of the woods, but this day made significant inroads to his path to healing.

The video of Micah (our oldest son) explains what happened today. God is good!

Here is Zachary with all of his tubes,  IVs, bandages, and monitor probes.

Here the medical staff was working on Zachary when he suddenly dropped his sats.  He will do this over the next several days. The quantity and duration of these hopefully will be few and short.  Please continue to pray!
