Baby Dedication

Zachary has rocked our world. We were told at the 18th week pregnancy ultrasound that this guy has "significant medical abnormalities. At this point some people choose to terminate the pregnancy..."

I responded, "Hold on, we are not killing this baby. God gave him/her to us for a reason." (We were throwing a baby gender reveal party the next day and didn't want to know the gender just yet.). "We know", I continued, "the Body of Christ will support us."

We had subsequent ultrasounds to get some more information. We felt that it was important to get as much information as possible so we could be strong advocates for Zach.

We also asked for prayer. We realized this trial was way more than Becky and I could handle on our own. Our Bible study class and our church and churches around the country and then the world started praying for us.

We found out we needed to be open and honest about what we are experiencing. Some days were great! Days that Zach gained weight or was improving we praised God. Some days were dark. Days that Zach had to go into emergency surgery or days that the doctors were running out of options if Zachary didn't improve. Those days we cried and our heart was overwhelmed.

This Mother's Day we get to dedicate Zachary to God in front of our church. This dedication is to commit to the church that we will strive to raise Zachary in a way that honors God.

The doctors made it extremely clear that Zach's life will not be normal like you or I experience. Docs said that he probably will not make it past 30-40 years old. They don't know what his mental ability will be. They don't know if he will survive the next surgery. (Good chance for success) The only thing they do know is to wait and see.

We love our little guy and thank God for Him everyday.

Happy Mother's Day.

Here is Zachary supervising the yard sale today...

A huge thanks to Amber Hann for taking these great family pictures!!

Here is the link to buy a Zachman shirt.  We have a ways to go and only have 14 days left.  Please help support Zachary.

  1. So encouraged everytime I read your blog post. It is amazing to see all God is doing in Zachary's life. He is certainly a brave little warrior and I know that God has an awesome plan for Zachary. Be blessed this morning as you dedicate this precious little one. I will continue to lift Zachary and everyone in my prayers. God bless.
