Week 30 - God is Enough.

Fact: God is all knowing and intimately involved in His creation.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you,  O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
===========================
God has been repeating a message to us: He is enough for our needs.  The above passage has helped Becky and I focus on what is important during this time.  We know that God is being glorified thru it all and we are amazed by it.  Zachary is not even born yet and he has impacted more people for Christ than I ever would have thought imaginable.
 On Tuesday (10-15) our family came down with a bug that wiped us out.  As Becky started to get it, she started to get dehydrated and having contractions.  We went into the hospital upon request of our OB.  The doctors and nurses gave Becky an IV to help hydrate her and some meds to help reduce the contractions.  Once they ceased, Becky was released.  She slept most of the day to recover from the meds.
God has built up a group of believers around us that have been praying for us and providing some practical needs.  We are so thankful that people are willing to drive all the way down to our house and give us a meal, watch the boys or do menial housework.  Becky has been able to rest with all the help.
It is not easy to keep Becky down.  She has never been known to take it easy or to rest when there is work to be done.  I am still constantly encouraging her that she needs to take it easy when all of the medical advice that we have been given clearly states that Becky needs to rest.  (She has been better about resting although she is starting to be stir crazy.)
Since our last post, we met with the general surgeon and the neonatologist.  The general surgeon at PCH will perform the surgery to fix the duodenal atresia.  He gave us several scenarios to expect depending on what they find from the ultrasounds after birth.  The best case scenario is that the atresia is easily fixed with surgery.  Sometimes they do find that the atresia is because the intestines are twisted and even the blood flow has been cut off from the intestines.  There is little they can do for this scenario and it’s fatal.
The neonatologist at Scottsdale Shea will be managing the care for the baby from birth until he is transferred to PCH.  He will make sure that the echo and ultrasounds are done and reviewed by the necessary specialists as well as prepare the baby for transport to PCH.
We were assured that we will have a few minutes with Zachary right when he is born to hold and cuddle him before he is whisked away for tests and surgery.  We were hoping to bond with the baby for even a minute before the tests and our prayers were answered. We also plan on getting some newborn pics to share during this time.
Thank you for your prayers and support.  We have been able to rest in the fact that God is in control and His plan is to glorify Himself.  We know that He is all powerful and intimately involved in this world.  We know that He could choose to heal Zachary but that is not His plan, yet.
