After a long, eventful day Zachary went to the ER at PCH and was released in the afternoon.
Here is the recap:
6:30am
The doctors asked us to bring Zachary in this morning to the ER. They placed a new feeding tube into his stomach yesterday but is not tolerating that very well. We hooked up a drain to his stomach to release the excess gas pressure (because he kept throwing up) which would cause some fluid to be released but we are finding out that he is losing more fluid than he is taking in. If he continues down this path, he will get too dehydrated.
11am
Docs gave Zachary some IV fluid to help rehydrate the little man. Now trying to find out what the docs want to do about his reflux.
1130am
A gourmet waffle food truck came by PCH to giveaway free waffles for a bunch of families. Nom, nom, nom, nom!!
2pm
Zachary is coming home! The docs changed his feeding tube back to the way it was before yesterday's change. Docs think that there is a blockage between his small intestine and stomach (duodenum). This is where Zachary had surgery to repair his GI tract 3x. This could be what is causing his vomiting but they investigate until he is in better health (ie grows).
We have a follow up appt in two weeks to see if he is growing. If he is, they are willing to investigate the intestines. He needs to be in optimum health for the GI surgery if it comes to that.
7:30pm
We resumed his feeds and Zachary vomited three times. We put him on pedialite to see if that makes a difference.
Could be a long night...
Praying for this little one.
