What a year!

Wow.  As I look back on this past year I just think WOW!  Nothing could have prepared me for the way our lives were about to change.  Nothing could prepare anyone for an 18 week ultra sound where you are suppose to find out if you are having a boy or girl. It is suppose to be an exciting happy appointment.  I will never ever forget when the ultrasound tech started the ultrasound.  The room was quiet, she didn't say much, and then proceeded to say she was going to get the doctor because things didn't look right.  My heart stopped.  What could it be.  Is our baby dead what in the world was wrong.  We sat in the quiet room waiting.  The doctor came in and begain to explain the things they saw and from this point on our lives were forever changed.  Initially I thought why us.  We are young and healthy and have 2 healthy boys.  What did I do wrong while I was pregnant.  Did I not eat right etc.  I had many talks with friends that helped me thru those times. It was nothing I did or could of done. This was the way God wanted Zachary to be. Uniquely and wonderfully made in His image.  Zachary has always been a mystery.  He has shocked doctors and is basically a miracle.

To celebrate his upcoming 1year birthday.  (Yes, 1 year.  Crazy!). We will be having an open house at the end of December.  We would like to invite any and everyone who wants to come.  If you would like an invitation via mail please email me by October 26th (beckyLgetz@gmail.com).   We are so thankful for everyone who has helped us thru this past year and for all the prayers. We know a lot of you haven't met him so now is your chance! Of course, if he decides to have surgery or something we may have to change the date but for now we are planning for December 28th.

But, before that party can happen we have quite the month coming up with lots of changes and appointments.
We are so excited we have been qualified for home nursing care.  We are SUPER excited to announce Sue will be one of our nurses who will care for Zachary.  Sue has been an amazing part of Zachary's life.  She was there when we found out about his condition at birth, she has been to MANY doctors appointments with us, and was there when he was born and much much more. She is an incredible person, nurse, mom and second grandma to Zachary!!  We are currently looking for a second nurse, two days a week, on Tuesday's and Thursday's and occasional Saturday's.  This will be a major adjustment for me.  I have been doing all of Zacharys care by myself since April.  I will have to learn to let someone else care for him.  I need to be ok if things are done slightly differently.  Pray things will transition smoothly.

We also have some big appointments coming up in the next few weeks.  We will be doing a swallow study test to determine how Zachary handles different thicknesses of fluid. We will be working slow on trying foods and sippy cups etc with him. It will be a very slow process.  We want to start now so it doesn't get any harder for him.  He has only ever been tube fed and nothing by mouth.  This study will be this coming Thursday.  We also have a consultation set up for November 21st with his cardio surgeon, Dr Nigro.  We will be discussing his future plan for surgery.  They have blocked some time at the end of November beginning of December in case dr Nigro decides to do Zachary's surgery.  The anticipation for appointments like this is very difficult.  Knowing he may be having surgery soon and not knowing when, is so hard.  I am a planner and like to prepare myself mentally and everything else for major events like this one.

Thank you all for continued prayers!
