--Medical Update--
The docs took him back to the Heart Cath Lab and looked at the pressures in his heart and pulmonary artery. His PA is bigger as he is growing. The PA band is then tighter since it does not grow with him.
The pressure in the atrium is around 10 and the pressure in the PA is 17 so there is a 7 point difference in the transpulmonary gradient. The PA band limits the PA to around 3-3.5mm at the smallest point. He can't grow a ton more before outgrowing the band.
The above picture shows the collateral pulmonary artery feeding the wedge of his right lung. This artery only feeds a portion of his lowest lung lobe. This will need to be removed at the next heart operation.
This picture shows the coil expanded into the artery to occlude the flow. (It worked perfectly.) His sats didn't change at all which seems to imply that this segment of the lung is not providing oxygen to his body. The docs will remove this lung segment when they do his next heart surgery.
Ultimately, the docs were looking to see if he is a candidate for the Glenn procedure.
He is looking good and will probably come home tomorrow. His heart is ready for surgery in the next few weeks. We are going to try to talk to the docs tomorrow to determine the surgery date.
Praying...
