Only a Mommy Would Be So Proud Of This...

Almost to Friday!  Zachary will have his GI surgery this coming Friday, March 27th.  They will be fixing many of his issues with his intestines, creating his anus, and fixing the narrowing that occurred from his first several GI surgeries last year.    This is a big day.  They say it will be a lengthy surgery.  We are to arrive at 5:30am for check in with the surgery starting at 7am.

It is always hard when you have something like this planned and just waiting for the day to come.  On one hand I am relieved to have navigated the recent turbulence and unusual bumps in the road  (Almost went to the ER on Tuesday).  On the other hand, I hate having my baby ripped open again for another surgery.

Things I hate about this time:
  • Another hospital stay.  Do I know how long he will be in this time? Will there be any medical mixups? What will I have to fight for this time? Will there be room on the typically crowded CVICU floor for my baby?
  • Life on hold.  When Zachary is in the hospital, the items on the important list becomes REAL short.  The rest just does not get done.  When he is home, I have to unbury myself.
  • Bringing him home again.  His routine is all out of sorts when he is at the hospital.  It is like bringing a newborn home after each and every visit.
  • Caring post op. This operation will create a lot of additional care for Zachary for the next few weeks.  I will have to tend to his wounds and surgical sites.  This just takes time.

Things I love about this time:
  • Zachary is talking and squealing a lot.  He loves to hear his voice (AND SO DO I)!
  • Zachary loves playing with is brothers.  Micah built a BIG train track the other day and Zachary was the normal little brother that came thru and destroyed it all.  (Micah was a great sport!!)
  • Zachary coming home.  I love having him back home again.
  • Zachary's surgery will help him be more normal.  Once the last GI surgery is done, he could have the ability to poop in a diaper!!! Only a mommy would be so proud.

I NEVER dreamed we would even be having these conversations about fixing his GI issues.  But, here we are.  God is so good.  Zachary is a miracle.  I was looking back at last year at all the things God has done in Zachary's little life and I am just amazed, simply amazed.

We are also coming up on 1 year since his home coming!!!!!  APRIL 1, 2014 was the day we got to bring our little guy home for the very first time.  Wouldn't it be cool to come home from this surgery on April 1, 2015?
Haha he is adorable :-)

The boys love him so much.  It will be hard for them when he has his surgery Friday as well.
