Oh the Memories...

Zachary did great this weekend.  He handled the heart cath, bronch check and the G-tube placement perfectly.

As usual, Zach has surprises for us.  The docs found an aortopulmonary collateral (artery) supplying blood to one segment of his right lung.  All this means is that they need more information before they decide on the next path.  Do they cut out the one lung section and remove the collarteral? Do they move the collateral and plug it into the pulmonary artery?

The next day Zach had a G-tube placed for feeding.  This will replace the NG tube that he was using to receive nourishment.  The G-tube is better for long term feeding and doesn't hinder his ability to talk/swallow.  Babies that have NG tubes for a long time can develop developmental delays with verbal responses and cues.

We then got Zach home on Saturday afternoon.

Even though this was a short stay in the hospital, the memories of Zach's 17 week stint in the hospital were conjured up.  We remembered the stress of rushing to the hospital to make it in the door before closing only to sit and wait praying you would get some answers.  The feeling that you are just wasting your time as you have dozens of things at home that need cared for.  The feeling that you just may not get the answers to the questions you have.  Oh, yea, we don't miss that at all.  The memories of dozing off in the chair just to wake up to a warning beep of the machine alerting you of some abnormal reading of his heart or lungs (again).

As you pray, please keep in mind those that have children in the hospital.  Please pray that they will have the strength to be strong parents for their children.  Please pray for the doctors to have clarity of focus and be able to take care of the kids.  Pray that the hospital stays are short and everyone is back home again together.

We are so thankful that this last hospital stay was a short one.  Thank you all for wearing your shirts.  Thank you all for praying for Zachary.  God is good!

Here are pics of this weekend.
