Summer 2015 Milestones

Wow, it has been a long time since we have posted.  Life has been busy and going well.  Zachary has been the healthiest he's ever been.  We have not had to call Paramedics, we have not been to the ER and we have not been admitted to the hospital since his scheduled spinal surgery. (Thank you Jesus!)
He had a really quick recovery after his last spinal surgery and was walking by holding on to furniture to steady himself within two days.

Jesus continues to amaze us with Zachary's recent developments.  Zachary sees his older brothers run around the house and seems to be determined to keep up.  He doesn't last long with his heart condition, but he loves walking.  He also is eating more food by mouth.  He loves Ritz crackers, green beans, and applesauce, but his ultimate hands down, favorite are Bushes Baked Beans.  It can take up to 90 minutes to get enough food so he can keep growing.  One thing you can count on at each feeding is the reflux.  He will be about halfway thru his food and then retch and cough until his stomach is empty.  Sometimes he is so diphuretic (sweaty) and lethargic that we stop the meal.

His primary source of nutrition is through his feeding tube, but we are making Zachary sized baby steps towards getting rid of that God forsaken feeding pump!

Zachary will be having another GI surgery August 31st.  This surgery will be to take down his colostomy and connect his intestines so he can poop normally.  (He currently has a descending sigmoid colostomy.)  One potential problem is that he may not be continent or have bowel control.  Please pray he will be able to handle this surgery well and be able to some day be potty trained like a normal kid.

We dont know what future surgeries Zachary will need and that is ok.  God knows what is going to happen and we rest in that.  With that being said, this could be Zachary's last GI surgery.  You could say this is another medical milestone.  (Didn't think we would ever get to this point!)

In other news in our family.   Micah's tonsillectomy went really well.  (I think the large quantities of popsicles and yogurt didn't hurt!)  Micah will be starting kindergarten at NCS this year.  We did a post a few months ago about tax credits to help us put the boys thru a Christian school.  Here is the link if you would like to tell the government how to use your tax dollars :-).   We have received several tax credits but need more so come January, think of Micah or as he likes to be referred to as 'Iron SpideyUltronman Cowboy'!

Apple Annie's Orchard with the Boys!

Zachary getting in some solid Lego time.
