The Gift

How great it was to have a normal Christmas with normal stress.  We prayed and hoped for a normal Christmas and finally enjoyed one.  The last normal Christmas for us was in 2012.  Micah was two and a half and Josiah was five months old.  Becky wasn't even pregnant with Zachary yet.

As we opened presents, I was again reminded of God's gift to us delivered about 2000 years ago.  It was not the gift people were looking for.  It was the perfect gift for us.  A little baby fully God and yet also fully human was born to grow up to take our sins away.  To do something that we could not do for ourselves.

Could you imagine the awe that Joseph felt when he held this baby? Could you imagine the stress of trying to parent God?  Did Joseph say things like "Now I know that you knit me in my mother's womb and all but I want you to go clean up after the animals!"

I digress...

We are thankful that this Christmas we could be as normal as possible.  Yes, it is stressful trying to get the boys to listen when they so desperately want to open presents and you have told them for the 35th time that they need to wait.  But it is different.  It is not the kind of stress that is caused by having your little baby stuck in a hospital and still being asked 35 times to open presents early.

Here are some photos of our Christmastime!

Christmas 2013 and Christmas 2015
Both are pics taken in bed, however I couldn't get him to lie still this year.  I am fine with that.

This is his go to pose for smiling!  Love it!

Grandpa gave the boys an EPIC fort building kit!

  1. What an amazing gift we were given in that tiny babe born so very long ago. What an amazing gift you have in your three boys! How awesome that y'all had a normal Christmas. Love the
pictures and the smiles. They always melt my heart. Thanking God for the miracle you have in Zachary. May God grant you many more "normal" days with all your boys and family in the coming year. And may He continue work in healing little Zachary.
