Zachary has been improving greatly with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. He has been starting to talk a little and is acting like a normal two year old. He likes to play with his brothers and also gets in on their normal brotherly "love"! Life has been so busy we haven't had a chance to update our blog since January. Here is the latest update.
We were supposed to go to Texas this summer for his hand surgery. The hand surgeon in Texas asked to speak to Zachary's primary cardiologist to discuss the risks for Zachary. Afterwards, the hand surgeon didn't feel comfortable operating on Zachary. He said "If something happens in the OR (Operating Room), I wouldn't be able to live with myself." I was thankful for his honesty and humility to admit that Zachary might be too much to handle. Few surgeons would be able to admit that. I was a little disappointed in the surgeon's conclusion, but as usual, God opened another door for us.
After confirming with our cardiologist that Zachary is as stable as he will ever be with his heart condition, we prayed again for this situation. So with further discussion with the cardiologist, he recommended an orthopedic surgeon he went to school with.
During the appointment with this new orthopedic surgeon, I found out he was actually trained by the doctor in Texas that was going to do Zachary's surgery. Amazing! Just another reminder how God has this in control and in His hands. Now we
On that note, this surgery is going to be a bit sooner than we anticipated. It will be tomorrow, Friday, April 29th. WEAR YOUR ZACHARY RED SHIRTS TOMORROW!!!
I am excited for these next steps and a little nervous. Zachary will get a thumb! I will miss his perfect little hands that have never had surgery on them. I will miss how his little fingers would just wrap around mine. I am always nervous to send him back for surgery. So please pray. Pray for wisdom for the doctors, peace for us, and that we are able to do all we need for this weekend! We are so thankful for all who pray and support our family!
